" My Desktop" by yours truly. 2005, Acrylic on Canvas, 36"x 49.5"Finished or unfinished the bottles are starting to disappear (does he mean the bottles at home or in the painting?), and my direction is in doubt. Is this painting begining to be about light, space, color, atmosphere, social commentary, or something completely different? I invite your comments, opinions, and frank criticism. I'm seeking influence. -C.

Whereas, previously, bottles were the dominant elements in your work, seeing your new stuff at the Winter Crit as well as this image, I'm struck by your use of light. Though the bottle is still present it has been buried, which may serve as social commentary. My parents recently got help for their alcoholism, but for me whenever they were drinking no matter how positive and seemingly luminous an event: birthday, Christmas, holiday, family get together, etc. there was still a dark presense of this addiction in the background. Now that they have stopped drinking for almost a year that bottle presence has faded further, but I know it will always be there in some sense.
I'm excited to see your next wave of efforts, keep it up!
